UNLOCK CORRECTLY

-
Locate your Hotsync cable. This cable plugs into the bottom of your phone and has a USB plug
on the other side.
If you don't have a Hotsync or USB cable or prefer to use a Secure Digital card,
please click here to view our alternate instructions.
- Download the unlocking program for the Treo 650 from the
link below. If your browser asks you open or save the file, pick
"Open".
Download from
here (unlocker-palm.zip)
- If you saved the file to your desktop, find the ZIP file (named
unlocker-palm.zip) and open
it by double-clicking the file.
- Install the unlocking program using Palm Desktop by
double-clicking on the PRC file in the ZIP file. Pick the one in the
language you are most comfortable using.
If you double-click the PRC file and you don't see "Palm Quick
Install" or another Palm file install window, you may need to install
Palm Desktop from the link at the top of this page.
If you get a message that indicates you need to create a new user
through Palm Desktop, launch the Palm Desktop program and create a user
with your name, then try again.
When the program comes up asking you what you want to do with the
file, click OK.
- Ensure that you have "Local USB" selected as a Hotsync option by
right-clicking on the hotsync icon in your system tray.
- Connect your Hotsync cable to the bottom on your phone
- Push the button on your Hotsync cable to start a Hotsync operation and wait for it to complete
- If you get the message that the connection cannot be established
with the desktop computer, you may need to reinstall Palm
Desktop or switch to a different USB port
- (Treo 650/680 only) Remove the battery from the phone, count to 10 and place it back in. (Treo 600 only) Push the reset button on the back of the phone
with a paperclip or other instrument. The phone will now reboot back to PalmOS
- Run the program "Treo Unlock" that you installed on your
phone. If you don't see the program listed, ensure that you have
selected the "all" category from the top of the home screen.
IMPORTANT: If your phone locks up or resets each time you run
the program, you
will need to "hard reset" the phone to clear any programs or
settings that might be interfering with the unlocking process:
→ Click here for hard reset instructions
A hard reset WILL CLEAR ALL YOUR DATA, make sure that
you have a Hotsync backup or another copy of everything!
- Once the program has finished running, you will see your "unlock

with a paperclip or other instrument. The phone will now reboot back to PalmOS
- Turn the phone radio on by holding the red power button down for a few seconds.

- After turning the phone on you will either see no message, or get the message "Your phone cannot be used with this SIM card".
If
you do not have a SIM card inserted or you have inserted an invalid SIM card, you will get the message
that the SIM card was not found, and the phone will not accept your unlock code until you insert a
valid SIM card.
- Open the dial pad. It should say "No service - SOS only" or list your phone carrier's name.
If it says "Check SIM card", your SIM card is missing or invalid (please see the note above).
- Enter your unlock code in the dial pad of phone screen exactly as shown, then
press the dial button on the screen. The code should be of the form
"*#*#xxxxxxxx#".
- The phone will then say that the SIM lock has been removed. If
the phone says that the SIM lock has not been removed, ensure that the
phone radio is on.
- Test the phone with a SIM card from another carrier to verify the
unlock process.
- If the phone still says "No service - SOS only", use the network selection option to ensure that your frequency selection is set to "Auto":
